Creating Safe Schools
Efforts to reduce school violence can be successful when multiple strategies are selected to be appropriate for each school's needs; these include:
1. Creating school-community safety partnerships
2. Establishing comprehensive school crisis response plans
3. Enhancing classroom climate, school climate and promoting positive school discipline and support.
4. Using nonstigmatizing school violence prevention programs
5. Promoting antiviolence initiatives that include prevention programs for all students
6. Providing support for students exhibiting early warning signs of disruptive behavior
7. Intervening with students who experience significant school behavioral adjustment problems
